Acting on behalf of another person

You can act on behalf of another person with a power of attorney, as a parent/person having custody of an underaged child or as a guardian.

Acting on behalf of another person with a power of attorney in matters concerning an insurance policy

The owner of the insurance and their authorized person can obtain information about the insurance contract and make changes to the insurance contract. If you want to authorize another person to handle your or your company's insurance matters, or if you want to handle, for example, your family members' insurance matters yourself, you must fill in and return a power of attorney.

You will receive a power of attorney and instructions for submitting it from our customer service. You can contact our customer service by phone at 0200 31100 or, if you are a Mandatum customer yourself, also via message through the Web Service.

Acting on behalf of an underaged child

You can view your child's insurance information in Mandatum's Web service by authorizing the use of the online service together with the other guardian. A guardian of a minor child can be granted either viewing rights or viewing and maintenance rights to their child's insurance matters. Authorization requires the signatures of both guardians. If you are the sole guardian of the child, your signature is enough.

You will receive a power of attorney and instructions for submitting it from our customer service. You can contact our customer service by phone at 0200 31100 or, if you are a Mandatum customer yourself, also via message through the Web Service.

It takes about a week to process an authorisation. When the authorisations have been updated, you will receive a confirmation message, after which you can view the child’s information in Mandatum’s Web Service. Once you have logged in to the Web Service using your personal banking codes, you can view your child’s information by selecting, from the top menu, the name appearing on the right and then ‘Change role’.

Acting on behalf of a person under guardianship

Either a private or public guardian can be appointed as a guardian.

Private guardian and continuing power of attorney (i.e. “donee”)

An individual who acts as a guardian can manage the insurance matters of the person under guardianship following authentication in Mandatum’s Web Service. For that purpose, you must send us a guardianship register extract, which you can obtain from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. You can send the extract by mail to: Mandatum Life Insurance Company Limited, Mandatum / Kaleva, Customer Mail, P.O. Box 788, 00101 Helsinki. If you are a Mandatum customer yourself, you can also send the extract through the online service in the Messages section as an attachment.

Once you have been granted user rights to the Web Service for the person under guardianship, you can view the person’s insurance information by changing the role in the Web Service. Log in to the Web Service using your personal banking codes and select your own name from the top right-hand corner. Choose ‘Change role’ from the menu that opens up.

Please note that you cannot send messages or orders while using the Web Service in the role of the person under guardianship. You must change your role in the Web Service and send a message concerning, for example, a change to a contract, in your own name, in the ‘Messages’ section.

Public guardian

Due to system-related reasons, it is not possible, for the time being, for a public guardian to look after a donor’s affairs in Mandatum’s Web Service. A public guardian can, however, communicate with Mandatum through a secure email connection, thus enabling Mandatum to provide the guardian with information.

The public guardian must also submit a guardianship register extract to Mandatum. You can send the extract by post to the address: Mandatum / Kaleva Asiakasposti PL 788, 00101 Helsinki.

Once the guardianship information has been linked to the policy, Mandatum will send the guardian the policy document and a print-out of the summary of events, which show the policy’s details from the date when the guardianship started until the current date. In future, the information will be sent annually for annual reporting.
